    read yesterday for my advanced orchestration final project by the Northwestern Contemporary Music Ensemble

    I wasn’t sure if it’d be okay for me to post the video of the performance, so I took the audio and paired it with a video of an actual rocket ship blasting off.

For my orchestration final, I’m writing a piece called “Rocket Ship.” This involves players detaching parts of their instruments to symbolize a rocket removing segments as it reaches higher altitudes, then once the players are only using mouthpieces, walking clockwise around the ensemble to symbolize orbit.
